Eggs to Indonesia: Don’t Be Racist

“I stumbled upon a small photography exhibit at a popular downtown park following a Sunday morning jog with another teacher from my school. This photo of personified eggs, speckled with simple, expressive faces, stood out immediately, as did it’s plain-stated title: Don’t Be Racist. I asked the photographer, who was present, what his inspiration was for such an unconventional shot. The emoting dairy collection, he said, was a reflection on Indonesia’s conflicts among diverse ethnic groups, both past and present. Given the lighter shade of the glum outcast, I couldn’t help but feel a small connection to the lonely egg.”
