The “Bemo” – Kupang City’s mode of public transportation

“Beat-up old minivans painted bright colors and covered with stickers of rock stars, soccer players, and Jesus, roam the streets of Kupang blasting uproarious pop music while they taxi residents across the city. You can take a Bemo to almost anywhere in Kupang. They are very cramped, frequently packed to the gills with up to 15 passengers, but for 2000 rupiah (less than 20 cents) per ride, you can’t beat the price!”
